According to the CIOT, tax professionals have major concerns about the introduction of Making Tax Digital for income tax self-assessment from April 2024.
97% of respondents felt that MTD could not be successfully introduced in 16 months from now, saying that neither HMRC nor taxpayers were ready, and recommending a delay in implementation.
