HMRC guidance in the Capital Gains manual at CG 64660 has been updated. The section is entitled “Private residence relief: non residential use: part of house used for business” and is concerned with the restriction to PRR that applies where a private residence is used exclusively for the purposes of a trade, business, profession or vocation (TCGA 1992, s. 224(1)).
The guidance reminds readers that a just and reasonable apportionment may be made if, during the period of ownership, there has been a change in the part of the dwelling house that has been used for such purposes.
