According to the ICAEW, HMRC have announced a delay to the processing time for setting up variable direct debits to pay employers’ PAYE, with employers needing to allow extra time.
For March collections, the direct debits need to be set up by employers by 10 March. For April, the deadline is 12 April. The ICAEW’s Tax Faculty is recommending a lead time of at least nine working days ahead of the payment date.
