A number of taxpayers and agents have recently received erroneous letters reminding them to file tax returns that have already been submitted. The letters warn of potential penalties.
HMRC have confirmed that there is an error on their part, which they are investigating and have temporarily stopped sending such “nudge” letters while they review their systems.
If taxpayers and their agents are confident that returns have been submitted then they can ignore these letters.
