The Chartered Institute of Taxation has noted that there have been 24 new taxes created since 2000 (including the three new taxes introduced by the Finance Bill 2023). Apart from two one-off levies, and the Health and Social Care Levy (which was repealed before it came into effect, and is not included in the total above), none of these or any other taxes have been abolished over this period.
