HMRC have updated their guidance to assist a taxpayer to decide whether an email, phone call, text or letter is genuine. The updated guidance reflects the new HMRC SMS service – see https://claritaxnews.com/tax-admin/income-tax-hmrc-trial-new-sms-service/.
The updates provide information about when HMRC might send a text message if a taxpayer calls a helpline from a mobile phone, and what it might include.
