The Low Incomes Tax Reform Group (LITRG) has given a broad welcome to these plans but are urging HMRC to implement them as soon as possible for the sake of taxpayers who need to claim tax relief.
The group is concerned that if these tax refund companies do not have an alternative way to be rewarded for their services they could cease to trade noting that “good tax refund companies have a legitimate role to play in the tax system, often helping taxpayers access refunds that, for various reasons, they would otherwise miss out on”.
